2nd Amendment

Press Release

Pennsylvanians for Self Protection – PA4SP

The organization formerly known as Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County (CGOBC stands united in preserving the 2nd Amendment and individual freedoms for today’s generation and for generations to come. As with most grass root organizations, after reflecting on the diverse approaches to accomplish our objectives, CGOBC has decided to reorganize.  CGOBC will evolve into two separate organizations and we encourage all people involved with the former CGOBC to engage both of the new organizations:

* An Action Group named “Concerned Gun Owners of Pennsylvania” – CGOPA that has recently published a press release.

* Pennsylvanians for Self Protection – PA4SP, a 501(c)(4) organization that will focus on outreach both to gun owners and non-gun owners as an informative and educational organization. We will be equally focused on educating and working with legislators not only to prevent new gun control legislation, but also to advance gun owner rights and reduce criminal firearm activity. We intend to expand our scope statewide.

  • Outreach to the Public – This function will identify segments of the public to be educated on self-protection as found in the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, and safe and responsible firearms ownership.  The objectives are to engage individuals interested in self-protection as guaranteed by the second amendment, new firearms owners, occasional firearm users, hunters and target shooters with the goal to encourage and enable training, to improve the comfort level of new and non-owners of firearms and the rationale for the 2nd Amendment. Additionally, this function will provide the tools to engage interested people in the legislative process.
  • Legislative Lobbying – We will compliment the work of the NRA, GOA, and other pro-2nd Amendment groups by providing feet-on-the-ground and support for those organizations. We are not competing with the NRA, GOA or any other pro-firearms group. Initially, our lobbying will take place locally in municipal, state and federal voting districts. Teams will be established for each voting district. Training will be provided for members of the teams.
We want the public to know that we are ordinary law-abiding citizens. We do not support any private militia nor do we intend to align ourselves with any militia type organization. We intend to use facts and the powers of persuasion to make our case, and we will treat those that are on the other side of firearms issue with respect.

We support public debates, peaceful gatherings, focused political events (especially at the state capitol), interacting with the press, educational seminars and working for like-minded political candidates.

We fully support Pennsylvania’s open carry laws.  However, we believe that common sense should prevail when deciding whether open carry is appropriate for any given event.  If a significant percent of the local populace is intimidated by open carry, then the pros and cons of open carry must carefully considered, as one of our primary goals is to reach the undecided voter and educate them on the 2ndAmendment.  Additionally, most personal protection instructors favor discreet concealed carry as significantly more effective than open carry.

We fully support and will work for the passage of Pennsylvania House Bill 357, the “Right to Bear Arms Protection Act”.  For those that say that the Bill is unconstitutional, we say that is for the courts to determine.  The 10th Amendment is making a comeback and its Constitutional relevance is being tested by the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Oregon. Until the US Supreme Court says the Bill is unconstitutional, it is not unconstitutional.

Unbelievable Senate Vote

Bill to place global ban on the import and export of small firearms passed by only 4 votes

Please be sure all your friends in every State see these names. The vote and the bill is a matter of public record.

Over the weekend, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations.

In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:

To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S. , and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N.
